Playing The Game of Life with my 5-year-old niece
Niece: I'm gonna be a girl, and I pick one of these little blue guys to be my husband.
Me: I'll be a girl, too. Can I have two girls instead of a husband?
Niece: Yes, that's okay. Now we have to have a wedding!
Me: I now pronounce you guys husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.
Niece: I now pronounce you wifes. You may kiss...the other wife.

When I was 5 I only knew that girls had to marry boys, and that if I wanted to get married I was gonna have to pick a boy. She gives me hope for her generation.
